Biog

Jon Brown joined the NSPCC from Action for Children in April 2010 and was appointed Head of Strategy and Development (Sexual Abuse) helping to take forward the new organisational strategy. Since October 2015 he has been responsible for leading on the development, scale up and replication of services. A qualified social worker registered with the Health Care Professions Council, he has a Masters in Social Policy from the LSE. During his career he has been responsible for setting up and managing a range of sexual abuse and other preventative services, first as a probation officer and then as a manager in the voluntary sector. As Operational Director with Action for Children he was responsible for a budget of £30m and for bidding for commissioned work, as well as managing a wide range of early intervention and residential services for disabled children and young people. Between 2003 and 2007 he was Chair of NOTA, the National Organisation for the Treatment of Abusers, and he remains on the NOTA National Executive Committee and chairs the NOTA Prevention Committee. He writes for and is involved in various publications and online journals, which focus on strategies for the prevention and treatment of sexual abuse, including online abuse. He was also involved in helping to produce the NICE guidelines on harmful sexual behaviour.
