Biog

Justin is Chief Executive (Safeguarding) at the independent Christian safeguarding charity thirtyone:eight.  He has over 25 years’ experience working in a variety of settings within the voluntary and statutory sectors focused on children, young people and their families.  As part of his role, Justin has been involved in a range of national groups and forums, which currently include being chair of the Christian Forum for Safeguarding, principal advisor to the recently formed All Party Parliamentary Group for Safeguarding in Faith Settings (for which thirtyone:eight provides the secretariat) and member of the Expert Advisory Group on the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment in the Aid Sector for the Department of International Development.  He has authored research on a variety of safeguarding related subjects within the Christian faith, such as safer recruitment practices, child abuse linked to faith or belief, safeguarding adults, and spiritual abuse.  He is co-author of ‘Escaping the Maze of Spiritual Abuse: Creating healthy Christian cultures’ (published by SPCK), is a regular speaker and is often asked to comment on topical safeguarding issues in the media.
